Wearin' the Green!

I'm Irish!  My dad's mother was a very proud Irish woman whose family came from County Cork.  My ancestors have wonderful surnames such as Bresnahan, Twomey, McGillicuddy and Flynn.   In 2002 I completed what I could of the genealogy studies of one line of my Irish family who came to the U.S. during the mid-1800's.  The other side has proved to be a real stumbling block for me.  After they came to the US they resided in New York City and with a common surname like Flynn, it's as hard as tracing Ron's "Williams" family.

I love all things Irish and hope some day to see the Emerald Isle for myself.  :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  2. McGillicuddy!! Wasn't that Lucy's maiden name on "I Love Lucy"? It sounds so familiar!

Hopefully, your dream of seeing the Emerald Isle will one day come true!

  4. Hi Diane,
I was reading your blog and my husband ( as he sometimes reads over my shoulder) just had to make sure that I told you that his family is from County Cork also. Their last name is Foley. They live in a beautiful farmhouse on the cliffs of Bantry Bay.
Have a wonderful St Pattys Day

I have ancestors who come from Cork, as well as Waterford, Meath, West Meath, Donegal, Tipperary and other. :) There is a bit of the Irish in my roots. :)
