There are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of Mayflower descendants living in the US today. Unless the family history was handed down to you or you made the discovery yourself, you might not know about this fun fact in your family line.
Let's see how many of the readers to this blog know their family history. . . . . . are you a Mayflower descendant?? Just this year I found that one of my family lines could be traced to Jonathan Brewster. . . . . . just like Ashley Judd.
Let me know if any of you can trace your roots back to the Mayflower. Leave a comment and let's connect! And I would especially be interested in hearing from any Hopkins or Snow descendants! I can tell you why a little later. . . . .
Happy stitching,
Diane
Diane, I am a descendant of Stephen & Elizabeth Hopkins through their daughter, Constance. The funny thing about this is that my husband is a descendant of Edward Doty, who was the Hopkins' servant. He said this is as it should be. :)

I am on my mother's side, but I will have to get her records to see the family name.
ReplyDeleteI have the documentation showing that we have relatives that came over on the Mayflower. I need to study them more but it is fun to discover it all.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, I have been doing a lot of genealogy work this past year and have discovered that I have Mayflower ancestors. I am descended from Stephen Hopkins and Constance Hopkins. I am also descended from Waitstill Snow. Isn't that a great name? It is very interesting and gives you a whole different perspective on history when you imagine your relatives participating in the events of the time.
ReplyDeletethank you, Lori

The Mayflower society is telling me Waitstill is not a descendent of Stephen and Constance.

Do you have proof of Waitstills parents?

DeleteI am on my father's side; Francis Cooke. My sister has most of the documentation from our cousin who did all the research. It's very interesting reading.
ReplyDeleteI have discovered that I am a decendant of Richard Warren and possibly Jonatha Brewster but I have yet to get all the verification at the moment I am working from documents that my mother and great great uncle have left behind.

The Mayflower society is telling me Waitstill is not a descendent of Stephen and Constance Hopkins.
Do you have proof of Waitstills parents?
They state all of the Hopkins children were born in Plymouth colony and Waitstill was born in Rehoboth Ma.
