Gracie has four legs but you would never know it to look at her in this photo. This just isn't a one-time event. . . . she does this all of the time and so does her brother Luke. It must be comfortable or I doubt she'd keep doing it. Does your dog do this? One front leg is tucked neatly underneath her and the other three are out in plain sight.
It's a very warm night in Tucson which is why Gracie is laying on the cooler tile. Temps are headed up close to 100 by Sunday. Looks like we aren't going to get a spring this year. :(
My golden retriever does the same thing.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a Golden thing!
DeleteI had an Irish Setter called Nia who did this ALL THE TIME. She'd often strike this pose and lean her long neck back. We'd call her Queen Sheba when she'd do this haha
ReplyDeleteI've seen Rory do this on occasions. I'll have to try and get a photo the next time. But his favorite position to nap is on his back with his feet in the air. Makes me smile every time. :)
ReplyDeleteHope the heat cools down for poor Gracie. :)
Oh yes. Our Golden does this but so do our six others. Lol

ReplyDeleteAs I read this, I see my golden lab doing this. His half brother, lies on his back a lot. While in that position he sometimes is wagging his tail or sleeping. Love these dogs, they really keep you entertained.
ReplyDeleteOur adore Golden retriever Tara , she was with us for 16 years , always did this we have lots of pictures of her in this "pose". Like yours I think that she thought she was one of us and not a Dog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful dog.
ReplyDeleteLiebe Grüße Grit
Yep it's official, it's dog thing. My German shepherd occasionally lies like that as well.
ReplyDeleteLOL yup, I looked back and my March first post shows Sheba in this pose. Silly dogs!
ReplyDeleteno,my golden lab lays flat on her belly with her legs out front.her aunt does the same thing. it's a "frog belly" pose. i'm glad to hear that florida isn't the only "hot" spot in the country. keep cool and happy stitching!!! denise
ReplyDeleteDenise. . . . Gracie does frog too! Front and back legs stretched way out!
DeleteMy dog doesn't (cuz we don't have any) but Chatty and Red does :) Lay their bellies smack dab right against the tiles and wood floors to cool down :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing everyone! Looks like Luke and Gracie aren't the only ones doing this. I was wondering if it was in their genes. Our last Golden, Molly, didn't do it. :)
ReplyDeleteMy german shepherd does this! My son even commented about it the other morning!
ReplyDeleteWe say our dog is "three-legging" but that means she has one of her back paws tucked in. She's always been a "little different."
