Gracie had her spay on Monday and it was awful (for me). I cried when we left her as she did NOT want to enter the kennel where she was being kept. How much trauma should a mother (me) have to go through??? lol. . . . . .Well, it was all for nothing really, because the day after the surgery she was acting like nothing happened. Stitches come out in less than two weeks and that will close the chapter on that part of her life.
Her highness now weighs 45 pounds and is 24 weeks old. She still has a way to go to reach her full weight but she's well on her way! I took the photo this morning so you could see how good she looks after the surgery! (See how good she looks Ellie?!)
Oh Gracie you are such a beautiful girl! Diane, I also felt that trauma when we had Milly (6 year old golden labrador) spayed! Aren't they the most wonderful dogs, full of personality and cheekiness, I wish Gracie many years of a wonderful life full of fun and of course lots of treats!
ReplyDeleteI can't get over how big she is already!! She's just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful, but then all dogs are to me, I had a Golden Retriever who went to doggie heaven 18 months ago,she was a kind and gentle pet and I still miss her.
ReplyDeleteShe is a beautie! Give her a great big hug for me! Does she have to wear a cone so that she doesn't lick her stitches?
ReplyDeleteShe is growing up so fast, but still a cutie. And no "megaphone" after surgery - that is good.
ReplyDeleteOh it is always an enjoyment to see a so beautiful dog! Come to see mine well they are smaller but also more very beautiful
ReplyDeleteBest regards of France
I'm glad she came through her "ordeal" with flying colors.
ReplyDeleteWow! She's really grown!
No cone for Gracie! She hasn't even taken the time to look at her stitches or try to lick them!
ReplyDeleteEllie just saw Miss Gracie and she said, "she's not a puppy anymore, is she?" and when I said no, I looked over at her and she was looking so intently and then she said, "Where is her pretty pink princess collar?" :)
ReplyDeleteEllie. . . . . Gracie is still a princess but she's a dirty little puppy. She likes to play in the sandbox and it made her collar look really bad. So now we save pink for special occasions when she goes out for visits and when company comes over. And Ellie, Gracie is still a puppy but not tiny like she was at first.
ReplyDeleteGracie is beautiful! My Missy when she was spay, the vet walked her out from the back when I went to pick her up like there was nothing done to her. In fact, I even asked whether the procedure was done or not. She's gone now, but thoughts of her still light up my heart. Labs and retrievers are so resilient! Gracie is growing so fast!
ReplyDeleteOh Diane, I so understand the heartbreak of having to leave them at the vet. My dog Rio hurt his back a year ago just the day before I was going into the hospital for surgery, so he had to spend all day in a cage at the vet. Talk about a sad little guy. Gracie looks beautiful !!!
ReplyDeleteMiss Gracie is growing up. And she is getting to be quite a beauty too! I'm glad her procedure went smoothly.
ReplyDeleteRory sends lick in sympathy. :)
It has been so much fun reading about Gracie growing up. We got a puppy around the same date as you did and our Cocker Spaniel Dutchie is now 6 months. I brought her into the animal hospital a few weeks ago as well for her spay and I can so relate to you! I felt terrible and couldn't wait till I got the call she was recovering. Like Gracie she was back to herself the next day!
