You may remember me mentioning that we had an unusually hard winter here in the southwest. However the cold didn't have a negative affect on our gardenia bushes. They are just beginning to bloom and as you can see in photo three, there are a ton of buds!
Now if only the wind would calm down.
Happy Stitching,
Diane
oh Diane !!! I can smell them from here!!! They are full of blooms !!! sniff sniff....
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite flowers! I can smell them too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Diane! I'll bet that scent is heavenly!
ReplyDeleteI love Gardenias! Isn't the scent so heavenly? I was hoping you were going to say you had designed a Gardenia sampler!
ReplyDeleteYes we did indeed have winter plant problems here in the SW. We thought we lost a few bushes, but Mr H cut them back severely and they seem to be coming back. Your Gardenias are lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane,
ReplyDeleteI live in Mesa and have never been able to get them to bloom. What is your secret? What direction are they planted? (bad English). I would love to be able to have some bloom. They are my mothers favorite flower and whenever I see them, they remind me of her.
Thanks,
Carol E in Mesa :)
I SO love Gardenias. They are beautiful, Diane. Thanks for sharing the pictures. :) Cathryn
ReplyDeleteCarol. . . . the gardenias are on the very south of the property line along a wood fence. Ron has them on a drip system and feeds them twice a year. We were late with the feeding this year (you can see by how yellow the leaves are) but it looks like we'll get a bumper crop of flowers anyway!
ReplyDeleteMy dad loved gardenias and roses. Nikki grows the roses. :)
I'm from upstate New York and I, too, love gardenias as did my mother....wish we could grow them here but have to settle for an occasional potted plant...maybe gardenias would be a great flower to put in one of your designs, Diane.
ReplyDeleteWe are having some fierce windstorms here in Las Vegas as well. I would love to be able to grow things here, but the climate is just too harsh.
ReplyDeleteYou flowers are gorgeous! :)
PS: I think you should do a gardenia sampler. ;)
Oh, the scent of gardenias is beyond description! I remember that, for my first prom, my date brought me a lovely corsage of gardenias... You must love having those wonderful blooms!
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous! I wish I was close enough to smell them.
