I've been putting more time in on the design. . . . . . after reading all of the posts on the last blog entry I felt so inspired to work longer hours on it to bring it to completion sooner, rather than later.
First there were the clouds. . . . . . . . the storm which represented the illness and the battle ahead.
The treatment journey was seven weeks long. Or maybe I should say, seven long weeks.
Below the horse are seven mountains that represent those seven weeks. The horse is traveling those mountains that to Ron, were hurdles. A sweet young friend of Nikki's who had battled cancer herself told Ron, "you can do anything for seven weeks." Those words were were like music in our ears. . . . .yes. . . . . you can do this . . . . .it's only seven weeks.
Seven Mountains, that are now, seven mountains over his shoulder.
Happy Stitching,
Diane
Hi Diane, first I have to tell you I'm a big fan of your work and love all your designs! Second, you and your family are so brave! I lost 2 aunts and 2 uncles to cancer in the last 5 years. The last one being in May..which was totally devastating as we lost my grandfather ( her dad) in Feb. you have my prayers and fervent wish that all will be well with your family, especially your hubby! Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful - so much meaning for you and Ron.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sensational piece. Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us.
ReplyDeleteThis piece you are currently designing and working on is incredible!! It is beautiful and I am so impressed with your creativity - although we know how creative you are by all of your amazinig work. This is a very special piece and thank you so much for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane ~ It's me again!
ReplyDeleteCould you tell me about the beautiful design in your blog header? what pattern is it? and is it still available?
thanks so much!
It's one of my favorites.....The Inn at Fox River Mill. :). It is still available.
DeleteThank you, Diane, for the information. I'm going to check for it at my LNS.
DeleteLove your self therapy...so meaning filled and, I hope, healing.
ReplyDeleteContinued healing to you both...and all.

Love your stitching for your husband. Stitching is one of the best forms of therapy I know. When my mom was sick it had a project with me in all the waiting rooms and it helped keep me from over thinking and worrying. Praying for you both.
ReplyDeleteI do have a quick question - Could you tell me what the pattern is for the piece you are using for the picture at the top of your blog?? I just love it.
Thank you
Rose

A super dedication for your DH Diane! Looks great! I will certainly be adding this to my southwest style. Hope all will continue to go well.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jackie:)
Just a little message for your husband. I hope he's feeling better...
ReplyDeleteThats a beautiful piece, made with lots of love !
ReplyDeleteI have just recently been captivated by your ornament and sampler designs and am curious where your new southwest-themed sampler will take you. Perhaps you could add some of the lovely cactus flowers that you pictured in your June blog entries when you both visited Tucson. These white cactus flowers could symbolize peace and hope for the future.

A beautiful piece to honor your husband.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to all of you,

Hi Diane - I am a big fan of your designs and this one is truly special. You and your husband have been in my prayers. After reading this blog (I'm a little behind on my blog reading!) and seeing what Nikki's friend had to say, I knew I had to send you a comment. 4 years ago I went through treatments for breast cancer. My sister, also a breast cancer survivor, told me the exact same thing that Nikki's friend said. As I started my radiation treatments, she told me that I needed to remind myself that I can do anything for 7 weeks (the length of my treatments) or however long I had to do anything during my treatments. I often thought of that as all of it was going on and even today, with doing other things I would rather not be doing, I find I think of it often. I hope you do publish this piece, with the description, as I'm sure there are many who would want to stitch it - I know I would!
