I have loved seeing your finishes of these designs on the internet. If you want to stitch 12 together this was my vision for them.

To do the 12 in one, what size fabric do you recommend?

You will need to do the math but I can tell you how to do it. If you want to stitch it like I have shown above, multiply the stitch count X 3 across and X 4 down. Add 5 stitches between the rows. Once you have those numbers, divide by the stitch count which will be 14, 15, 16, etc. Add your margins and you are done! The size you see above is 13" x 17.5" WITHOUT margins on fabric yielding 15 stitches to the inch. Hope this helps.

We both have a "thing" about sheep and we are about to start Friendship this evening , it will be a 2014 finish for us as being in the UK we have to wait a little longer for the charts to arrive. ReplyDeleteMany thanks Diane for this wonderful series, I have the 12 charts with buttons and WDW wools (I want to make little cushions as yours but I'm not sure to be so talented as you :( and I have to stitch them this year as I have a lot of UFOS (LHN, CCN and other designers, sorry), you are one of my favorite designer with your daughter ♥ but as Barb (I'm living in France) we have to wait longer than US stitchers, lucky are you, to have your charts (& everything else) and stitch them .........

ReplyDeleteI'm trying to find detailed instructions for the sheep's as you did them. What size square do I cut the felt for each one? How did you sew your edges closed? How did you apply the design to the felt? Is it sewn on?
The pillows are simple ........ start by trimming the excess fabric from the stitching and then turn the raw edges to the back side. Stitch in place with invisible thread. Sew the sheep to the wool using the same thread. Size will depend on how much of a margin you have left on the outside of your stitching. Show about an inch of wool on all sides and cut accordingly. I used invisible thread to attach twine along the edge then sewed the two wool pieces together using embroidery floss and a blanket stitch.
