Sleigh Bells Ring

Oh goodness. . . .this ornament might be my favorite of the year.  "Sleigh Bells Ring" is one of those miniature designs that says so much in such a small space.

My finish was super simple, in large part because I am not that great at finishing!  But anyway, it's one you all can do.  The finished design was first anchored to the top piece of wool, then the front and back were sewn together with a blanket stitch.  Fill with a small amount of stuffing before closing.  It's primitive, homemade, and the simplicity makes the design stand out.  The supply list is already on our web site.  Shipment to distributors is scheduled for next week.

I'll have one other design to show you this week so keep watching!

Now I have to tell you something sweet.  Many of you have come to know my mom by way of this blog and the stitching she has done for me.  Anyway, just last week she taught someone to cross stitch.  Mom, who is 80, is still stitching models and came across someone who was interested in what she was stitching.  Next thing I knew she was on the phone with me telling me her news.  I remember when mom taught me to stitch using a graph rather than stamped cloth.  I was a new mom and stitched a sweet little Bambi design from a Disney book.  What special memories for all of us, remembering our first stitches.

  2. I love this ornament! What a wonderful story about your mom. My daughter takes an interest from time to time but she has a little friend (they are 12) who loves to come over and stitch, it thrills my heart when they take an interest in stitching.

  4. Oooh I love this one Diane! I'll be snatching it up as soon I as can get my hands on it. I'll tell you a good 'mom' story...my mom taught me to cross-stitch and embroider when I was a young girl. I made a set of those white flour-sack dish towels with embroidered ducks doing housework. Sadly, I used them up and eventually got rid of them in my 20's. Well 45 years after embroidering them and after 4 years of searching online, I found the same transfers for sale and am making myself another set! Those old designs are out of copyright now so being copied and sold. Isn't it nice to have good memories of learning needlework with our moms. :)

  9. I'm not sure which makes me happier - another sweet ornament or the fact that the world has added a new stitcher. Love your designs and your Mom"s enthusiasm for a craft I love so much!

Dear Diane - I love the new ornament and can't wait until I see it on 123 Stitch so I can order it. I believe it is my favorite yet!! Thank you for all of your wonderful designs and giving us so much enjoyment. I have been cross stitching for 30 years and I guess until my eye sight gives out I will continue. Thank you again, Reba

  12. I was looking forward to seeing the Sleigh Bell ornament and it is adorable Diane.
What a sweet story about your Mom. I can remember my first stitching lesson and often look at my first cross stitch piece too.
This past weekend my 15 year old wanted to stitch and my 4 year old wanted to learn to stitch and of course I told them both how thrilled I was they wanted to do this.
    TFS sharing Diane.
Oops! Less I forget. I've finished He is Risen piece on my blog if you'd like to take a look.
