My Design As It Unfolds . . . . . . .

It was a very different experience when I created Ron's cancer design.
I was on the outside looking in.
Not this time.

I am a woman of faith in good times and bad.  The scriptures are a source of strength and encouragement to me.  I knew one of them would become the very center of my life while I went through my surgery and treatment.

I will admit that there is nothing about having surgery that appeals to me on any level.
In fact I find it all a bit terrifying.

On the day I went in to the hospital I had written this verse on a small slip of paper and rolled it up in my hand and held it there.  Close to the time for the surgery, the anesthesiologist came in to talk to me as they do.  I asked him if he would keep the paper with the verse in my hand during surgery and he vowed he would.

Once I woke in recovery, the first thing I said was, I'm thirsty and where is my paper!  The paper was held tightly in my left hand, badly wrinkled but with me.

I remember kissing it and feeling relief that the words written on it made that journey with me.

This is Isaiah 41:10 as it unfolds...............

I took my first stitches two days after surgery.

Progress in the first week.

All is well......my recovery is taking time but that's ok.
I feel I have a lot of it going forward.

Diane

  20. I'm crying and praising along with you. I love the verse in Ps 57 that says "Be merciful unto me, O Lord, be merciful, for my soul trusteth in thee. In the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge until these calamities be overpast." Keep trusting and nestle into the shadow of His wings. They may block the sunshine for awhile, but it is a safe and comforting place to rest. You are in my prayers! {{Gentle Hugs}} and hopes for a quick and complete recovery. ~ Tricia

  30. Dear Diane - it is so evident how very much you are loved and how precious you are to all of us. You have shared so much love and beauty and talent with us and now we will thank you with our prayers and blessings and strength to help you and Ron through this.

I walk the Susan G. komen 3-Day, 60-Mile Walk every year (The3day.org) which is a 3-Day walk that brings awareness and raises funds in the fight against breast cancer. This year will mark my 10th walk and this year I will walk proudly in your honor.

May you find the strength, prayers, blessings and love sent especially to you and to your family.

  34. I will be praying for you. I've been where you are. My husband had colon cancer and surgery, then chemo in 2003. He is doing well and cancer has not returned. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 followed by radiation. This past April I am 2 years cancer free. Your cross stitch design is one I would like to stitch...love the scripture reference. God bless you and your family. Phyllis

  35. What you did with the paper was beautiful and biblical. It is Isaiah 26:3 lived out -- thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. Your mind was stayed on the Lord and He brought you peace. He loves you and more than anything, He wants you to trust Him more than ever and grow immensely through this trial. Love to you and your family......you have blessed all of us and continue to do so!
